Why everyone keeps coming back.

EL Sazón is a charming Mexican restaurant nestled in the vibrant heart of Centro Histórico de la Ciudad de México. This gem delights guests with authentic flavors that span the diverse culinary regions of Mexico, offering a genuine taste experience sought by both locals and tourists. The ambiance is cozy and bustling, evoking a warm family vibe that makes diners feel right at home, although the intimate space can feel a bit snug during peak hours, adding to its lively, authentic character.

The menu at EL Sazón is a lovingly crafted celebration of Mexican cuisine, complemented by touches of Mediterranean flair. Starting with fresh, crisp salads like the Insalata César con Pollo, featuring marinated and grilled chicken breast, parmesan cheese, crunchy croutons, and romaine lettuce dressed in a creamy Caesar sauce – a perfect light yet satisfying starter. The Insalata Mediterránea enchants with a combination of feta cheese, capers, onion, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, mixed lettuces, fresh dill, and extra virgin olive oil drizzled with balsamic vinegar.

For pizza lovers, EL Sazón presents an inspired menu where Mexican meets classic Italian. The Pizza Margherita, adorned with homemade tomato sauce, mozzarella, fresh cherry tomatoes, and aromatic basil, offers a simple yet vibrant flavor. The Pizza Pepperoni presents a crowd-pleasing option with spicy, savory slices layered atop melty mozzarella and house-made tomato sauce. For a truly indulgent treat, the Pizza Quatro Formaggi combines four decadent cheeses – mozzarella, smoked gouda, provolone, and parmesan – melding into a creamy, rich masterpiece.

Pasta dishes at EL Sazón are equally inviting. The Pasta con Salsa de Tomate shines with a subtly spicy homemade tomato sauce that warms the palate, while the Pasta Pesto Basilico offers fresh basil pesto, pine nuts, and parmesan for a fragrant and earthy bite. Pasta aficionados will appreciate the Pasta Carbonara, where smoky pancetta, parmesan cream, egg, and a hint of parsley create a luscious, comforting dish. The Ravioli di Carni rounds out this selection with tender ravioli filled with rich Bolognese sauce, perfect for savoring each flavorful mouthful.

Customer reviews consistently praise EL Sazón for its combination of affordability, generous portions, and authentic taste. Guest JMQZ describes it as a “good, clean and affordable restaurant” with an outstanding service that complements the authentic atmosphere. Many diners appreciate the fresh ingredients and consistent quality, while the welcoming, bustling environment reflects a genuine local experience. Especially popular for breakfast, as TexasRobman notes, the place often gathers lines, a testament to its delicious Mexican dishes and speedy, attentive service. The homemade corn tortillas served fresh at the entrance add an extra layer of authenticity and warmth to every meal.

For anyone eager to explore Mexican culinary traditions, EL Sazón offers not just a meal, but an immersive experience where each bite connects you to Mexico City's rich gastronomic heritage. Whether you’re craving a hearty breakfast, a flavorful pizza, or classic pasta dishes with a Mexican twist, this inviting spot in Centro Histórico should definitely be on your must-visit list.

The reviews are accurate! This is a good, clean and affordable restaurant to try Mexican food from various regions in Mexico. The majority of the guests are Mexican tourists or locals and that makes for an authentic experience. The service is outstanding, the prices are very reasonable and the size of the portions is large. I would say that the flavor of the food is good, not outstanding, but consistent and good quality. I definitely would recommend this restaurant.

Very nice little place to enjoy typical mexican food and different dishes from the country The interior has a family vibe but no windows which makes the already crowded space feel a little crammed Food is delicious and quite cheap, you can get a 3 course meal for under 10$ and leave very full The quality of the ingredients is what you'd expect for a place like this, nice fresh ingredients but and good presentation

Very good authentic Mexican dishes. Visited many times for breakfast for its affordability. Place gets busy with a line outside which shows how good it is, line moves quick to get sat at a table. Simple menu and fast service. Breakfast comes with coffee or tea, choice of fruit or a juice. The Panza (menudo) was some of the best I’ve had in Mexico City. Fresh handmade corn tortillas at the entrance. Simple fried eggs with bacon was my go to, simple yet comforting. Visa / Mastercards are accepted. Highly recommend.

The restaurant doesn't have vegan food but the waitress was really nice and she changed one of the salads for me. They close at 20:00 so if you want to go there better make it early. My sibling was eating a meat dish and he loved it .

The food was good. The employees could be more courteous and have better dispositions, a smile goes a long way. They are not very patient and rush because of the long line. The establishment needs ac or fans to circulate the air.
